I had the privilege and honor to see and shake the hand of our late President Cory Aquino [The Icon of Democracy] during her presidential campaign in 1986. When she called for civil disobedience after Dictator Ferdinand Marcos and Sen. Arturo Tolentino declared by the Batasang Pambansa as the official winners, I was one of the many million Filipinos who responded to her calling to topple the dictator, peacefully. History will definitely never forget her and, of course, late Sen. Ninoy Aquino for what they had done to our beloved country. This will always echo from generation to the next generations. Pres. Cory will be always remembered as a TRUE leader who did not carve for prestige and power, even though she was very much qualified for another term as president under the Philippines Constitution of 1987. TRUE LEADER DOESN’T HAVE TO STAY IN POSITION TO MAINTAIN HIS/HER PRETIGE AND POWER, BUT SUSTAIN HIS/HER INFLUENCE AS GOOD LEADER; TRUE LEADER OFFER HIS/HER POSITION TO OTHER WHO IS MOST QUALIFIED TO BECOME A NEXT LEADER.
