NCAF To Hold Simple Rites To Commemorate Death Anniversary of Cory Aquino
August 1, 2011 marks the second death anniversary of former President Corazon C. Aquino. In commemoration of her passing, the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF) will host simple rites which will be held starting 3:00pm at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.
The ceremony will be followed immediately by Holy Mass at 4pm. His Excellency, President Benigno S. Aquino III, will share his thoughts, two years after his mother’s passing, to cap the commemorative event.
Staying true to her legacy of keeping the spirit of People Power vibrant by helping uplift the quality of life of our fellow Filipinos, representatives from organizations which led the expression of commitment during her first death anniversary at La Salle, Green Hills will join the members and friends of the Aquino family in a brief memorial ceremony. They will refresh their promise, as they submit reports on their modest contributions as “People Power People”.
The symbolic highlight of the ceremony will be the turnover of the funds raised through the various People Power Runs last February to celebrate the 25th anniversary of EDSA I across the country. The simultaneous running events were conducted in support of the multi-sector effort to address the massive shortage of public school classrooms.
Secretary Armin Luistro of the Department of Education, assisted by Mrs. Pinky Aquino-Abellada of Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP), will be on hand to receive the funds from the iamninoy-iamcory Runners and from the regional running groups.
